Check out which program is behind this transaction (this could eventually be shown in the bottom right corner of the SAP GUI screen or in transaction maintenance), open this program in SE38, go through the coding until you find the place where you see how and why this icon is displayed. I agree that the last step is the most difficult one. If you a lucky the SAP developer did write a comment.
